Now I'm settled!

I am 52 months old. I am 1.04m high and weigh 16 kg.

I have settled into school very nicely and I have met lots of new friends from many different countries. My school, Mellieha Primary is part of the Maria Regina College (Queen Mary referring to Mary, the mother of Jesus). It is a public school and we learn both English and Maltese. There are about 28 Different nationalities in our school and we even had a multicultural day to celebrate our cultural diversities. I was in the newspaper and Mommy had a South African stand displaying South African food and culture. Granny baked Koeksisters for the event. Mommy met the President of Malta.

Sports Day

I go to gymnastics class on a Thursday evenings for a term. I really love my coach Balaz. He is from Hungary. We run around and learn to do different things. It is not very advanced but I really love it.
Playing with Magic Mud! We do many crafts with Mom

My best friend is Madeleine. We share a birthday and she comes to visit weekly. I really love her. Mommy created a scenario where Mommy, Daddy and Jakob would not be around it this thing happened. With a very worried  face I also realised that it would mean that Madeline would also not be around.

My favourite girl in the whole world!

I love stories being read to me. My favourites are stories are the ones by Julia Donaldson and Axel Sheffler like The Gruffalo. I like stories made up about me, Elijah Knight and Jakob Knight. Many other character have to feature like Princess Madeleine, Robots, etc

Summer 2014
Running on the beach
I have learnt to ride my birthday bike with training wheels and we visit the parks at least twice a week to play. Now that it is summer we also go down to the beach early in the morning or early evenings. For the summer I will go to swimming classes!

My 4th Birthday Party

I will never forget Elijah’s 3rd Birthday. We had just arrived in Tunisia. It was cold, wet and Jonathan worked long hours. The weather was miserable and we didn’t know anyone. We were just happy to all be together after Jonathan had gone ahead a month before. Elijah had never ever been separated from his Daddy for that long and because I was giving 10 month Jakob care, his relationship with Jonathan had become even stronger than before.

He realised that it was his birthday and asked if people would be coming to his party. Oh, after he had such a wonderful 2nd Birthday party a year before it broke our hearts to say, “No”

Now a year later we have his 4th Birthday. He has asked for a Knight’s party and we are happy to oblige. Even though we have only been in Malta for 2 months and really don't know anybody yet, we are so happy to give him a small party.

My Party Invitation
Eli asked for a knight's party because he loves stories about Dragons and Knights. Granny Margaret knows a South African lady that bakes cakes so she baked a lovely Castle cake with a Knight and a Dragon. Granny also made goodie bags and snacks for the guests that included sausage canons and other savoury snacks for the guests.

Granny and Grandpa came to help

Daddy made a Dragon piñata and a knights helmets for both Sir Elijah and Sir Jakob. Mommy made cobalt tunics with a shield on the chest and mock chainmail sleeves. On the day Jakob refused to wear his outfit so he just ran around with his leggings and long vest.

As we don't know too many people we invited all the boys in his class. Three out of the 5 came and we invited two little girls we know. We met them outside the church before leaving South Africa. Madeleine shares Elijah's birthday and Estelle shares Jakob's birthday. What a coincidence? Even more so that we all get along so well.  Elijah and Madeleine sang happy birthday to each other and blew the candles together. Eli really likes her.

Madeleine and I were born on the same day

Everybody arrived with their folks and we managed to meet new people and chat while the kids played on the trampoline and in the boys's room. Most left about 2 hours after the party ended.

Eli got great gifts. Mommy and Daddy gave him a bicycle and he got clothes, books, a puzzle and payamas.

Our little knight had a wonderful day and he greeted and thanked everybody so nicely. We are so proud of him and we loved seeing him run around with his little brother and friends.
I partied like a rockstar!

Daddy and Jakob were exhausted after a long day of entertaining

Jakob took a long nap and woke up when the last people left.

Settling in!

After a nice long holiday in Malta Mommy has decided not to send me back to my school. I was very happy to announce to them when Mommy went to see them that "I am not coming here again. I am not coming here anymore". (I personally feel that they made no effort to teach him. After all that time he did not learn one word of Arabic or French from them. I taught him to count in French up to 5 in one day. He also greets the taxi drivers in French when he gets in or exits the taxi. The ability is there, it was just their lack of effort that was lacking.)

I am going to a new school. It is a Montssori school in Hammam Lif from October.http://www.montessori.tn/index.php/main/index

I have made a new friend called James. James is South African and he lives in Tunis. His Daddy works for the South African Embassy in Tunis and Mommy and his mommy love to talk all the time. (Meeting Annalize has been my saving grace. It is so "lekker" to have someone to speak to in Afrikaans. They are a great family and I am so pleased that we have met them)

Jakob and I play together nicely. We have our moments but in general we like to laugh together, be tickled and have Mommy read us stories. I get to watch Tom and Jerry while I eat my meals.

I love gorillas, robots, lizards and most other animals.

I dont like it when other kids get into trouble and when Daddy shouted at Jakob I said "Dont shout at my baby brother."

At night we all sleep together in room on 2 double bed matresses. I am still not the biggest eater but I love pizza and will eat it any time of the day. We go to Mister Panino, our local pizzaria owned by an Italian lady, at least once a week where I get to share watered down Coke with Mommy.

Mommy does not have a car and I often walk while Jakob is in the pram. Sometimes we walk very far. I always have to wear a hat when I go out.

When Daddy wants me to go to bed and I am working on my iPad I say, "No thank you Daddy, I am still busy"

During Ramadan we started going for walks in the evenings along the beach front.

We stop at this coffee shop in the Centre Ville and Mommy buys us Parrot juice while they have coffee

I love animals. I am an animal rescuer! I am also very interested in what is eaten by who. My friend Zacharia was circumsized and his family celebrated it with the slaughter of a sheep. I loved thie sheep and named him, Claude. I spent the whole day with him, feeding him, stroking him, leaning against him, kissing him, it goes on... That evening he had to "go back to the farm" to be with his family.

"What do crocodiles eat?"
"They eat meat"
"No they don't. They eat broccoli"
"No little boys eat broccoli"
With a giggle
"No Silly, that wil make me 'veree' sick"

Another time:

"Cocodiles eat custard"
"No they don't"
"They do, they eat crocodile custard"

I love going to "my" souk to "buy things for me". I still don't love school and I told Daddy I don't like it because the nuns don't talk to me. I don't always listen and I am pushing boundaries. I dont like getting into trouble and when I do I think up punishments for Mom and Dad.

"Daddy, I will call a shark to eat you"
"Mommy, I will stick you on the wall with some stingray tape"

We have been to the Tunis-zoo and the beach in Bou Cedria. I love the beach and lie in the sand.

During summer we often take bathes during the day just to cool down.

My memory amazes my parents. I still remember my nanny, Natasha, and my teacher, Vanessa. I say things that amaze Mommy and Daddy as to how I remember it.

Becoming a little boy

I am much better now. We are with Daddy living in Ez Zarah in Tunisia. I'm settling into my new French/Arabic playschool with Mami Foufa and we have some routine going. In the mornings we take the taxi to school and in the afternoon we walk back with Jakob in the pram.

I am 38 months old, I weigh 14kg and I am 0.94m tall

We never watch TV anymore, we only use the iPad and the Computer to play and watch programs. I am an iPad expert!

My 3rd Birthday was very different to my 2nd Big Birthday Party but Mommy and Daddy did their best to make it Special.

We went to Malta for Easter and stayed with Granny and Grandpa. The Easter Bunny brought us eggs and I went on an Easter Hunt at the primary school and that morning I got a treasure map at home to find my eggs.
MOSTA Easter Procession. I loved the band and when a statue of Jesus came by I said "Jesus was a big man"

We also manged to spend some time on the beach
Daddy bought this special bike seat for me from the souk

Making Playdough

Jakob and I play together very nicely. Sometimes he bothers me when I am trying to work on the iPad. From time to time I try to move him by picking him up under the arms and moving him but I am not allowed to do that.
